Workshop: Creating a Sacred Space
March 10th, 10am – 1pm
with Donna Cordeiro & Rochelle Sokoll
PART 1 – Making the Most of our Meditation Practice
Buddha taught many different methods to support and inspire our practice of meditation. This day course is an opportunity to understand the benefits of setting up a personal shrine, the meaning of the sacred objects on a shrine, and the traditional preparatory practices for meditation.
PART 2 – A Beautiful Space: A personal shrine for your spiritual life
Meditation shrines are like houses – they come in various shapes, sizes and colors, but their purpose is always the same. Whether it consists of a small shelf on the wall or a space inside an enclosed cabinet, a shrine will fit happily into almost any surrounding.
With our favorite images of Buddha and some offerings placed before them, our shrine continually reminds us of our wish to find happiness from within. We sit in front of our shrine to connect with this wish, and reinforce our direction in life.
Over time, the shrine becomes for us a sacred place, a special refuge … and we love returning there day by day.
